Daily Devotions for Monday, April 19, 2021

Good Morning Watsontown United Methodist Family,

Today’s Daily Devotions will be a “Lead Yourself” devotion.

Theme: Creativity

Opening Prayer

How majestic are Your works, O Lord, that spring forth from Your boundless love. From mysterious stars burning silently in the night sky to a passion for the possible that burns steadily in the human heart, Your creativity inspires and invites our own creative energies. May the songs we sing and the plans we make honor Your plans for us, “planned long ago, faithful and sure” (Isa. 25:1). In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Psalm: Psalm 8

LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angelsand crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Your Great Name:

Reading: Genesis 1:1-5

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
