Good Morning Watsontown United Methodist Family,
Today’s Daily Devotions will be a “Lead Yourself” devotion.
Theme: Good Stewards
My God, You saw me in my unformed substance and numbered my days before I had lived one of them. Be close to me now, my God, help me to love You without restraint and to manage all the affairs of my life to the end that when I stand to give account, I need not be ashamed. In the name of my Lord, Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
Psalm: Psalm 3
LORD, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.” But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. I call out to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy mountain. I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me. I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side. Arise, LORD! Deliver me, my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked. From the LORD comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people.
Song: Your Great Name
Reading: Luke 12:35-40
“Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”
What “new” insight did you gain from today’s text ? How might you be able to apply today’s reading to your day today? Who would you like to share today’s reading with?
Hold before my eyes, my Lord, the diminishing number of my fleeting days, that I may receive them as precious gifts and live them in faithfulness and fidelity to You. In the name of Jesus Amen.
