Good Morning Watsontown United Methodist Family,
Today’s Daily Devotions will be a “Lead Yourself” devotion.
Theme: The Word Became Flesh
In Your unbounded love You have shown us Your face and made Your way known among all the nations. May we recognize in Your decision to become one flesh with us an invitation to live gratefully with others as one family, gathered and held together in Your holy name. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Psalm: Psalm 67
May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us— so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. May the peoples praise you, God; may all the peoples praise you. May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the peoples with equity and guide the nations of the earth. May the peoples praise you, God; may all the peoples praise you. The land yields its harvest; God, our God, blesses us. May God bless us still, so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.
Song: O Come O Come Emmanuel
Reading: John 3:1-3, 7-12
Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.” Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” “How can this be?” Nicodemus asked. “You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things? Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?
What “new” insight did you gain from today’s text ? How might you be able to apply today’s reading to your day today? Who would you like to share today’s reading with?
May the God of untrodden ways, who has chosen to live as one of us, guide us and keep us on the road to fullness of life. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
